Legal basis
EKO-KOM is based on the Czech Packaging Act No. 477/2001 Coll. which took effect on January 1, 2002. Hereby, EC Packaging Directive 94/62/EC was transposed into the Czech national legislation on December 31, 2001. Packaging recovery system managed by EKO-KOM is based on authorized decision made by the Ministry of the Environment on 28th March 2002.

packaging agent is a material from which the consumer packaging, group packaging or shipment packaging is directly made or which is a part of packaging consisting of multiple components.

- Persons marketing packages or putting them into circulation need not fulfil the main obligations, provided that they meet the following conditions, that
a) the total quantity of the packages marketed or put into circulation per calendar year does not exceed 300 kg, and
b) their annual turnover does not exceed CZK 4,500,000.
