ÉEQ is a private non-profit organization accredited by the government in June 2005 to represent companies that market “containers and packaging” and “printed matter” in Québec and are subject to the Environment Quality Act (EQA). It represents over 3,000 companies and organizations from food and consumer goods manufacturing, retailing and distributing, durable goods and services sectors, including finance, insurance, accommodations, food services as well as government and paragovernment agencies.
In partnership with other stakeholders, ÉEQ promotes the increase of recovered materials through curbside recycling at the lowest possible cost.
To do so, ÉEQ Ensures that targeted companies finance their fair
share of the net costs of municipal curbside recycling services by establishing
an efficient and effective system and a fair fee structure. It also provides
targeted companies with necessary support and incentives to help them adopt
best practices relating to containers, packaging and printed matter.
